It’s quite simple, the image of the two houses illustrates the difference between a code-minimum home built today and a well-insulated Performance Home home. In essence, the house on the left could have up to 12 – 20 air changes per hour. The Performance Home on the right will have just 1 to 3 air changes per hour due to its superior insulation thanks to building products such as Habitech SIPS panels. In essence, the Performance Home on the right will require 12 to 20 times less energy to heat because there is minimal heat loss. We build with either 170mm-thick SIPS panels (Habitech) or thermally broken 140mm-wide timber frames.
The image also illustrates that we build a well-insulated thermal envelope around the entire home—its foundations, walls, and ceiling, for example. We achieve this by blending the right mix of technology, heating and ventilation systems with superior materials, sustainable design principles and a passionate build team. Together, we simply deliver better homes — often at little or no extra cost.
As featured on Grand Designs on November 13, 2016 on TV3 (yes the same night of the Kaikoura Earthquake!), this episode show-cased our energy efficient Habitech SIPS concept house. As can be seen, it delivers both in architectural design whilst boasting our core green principles.
